Somerset Students Wear Purple in Recognition of Spirit Day

SOMERSET — “There were a lot of students and staff members who were wearing purple colored clothing at Somerset High School last Wednesday. And it was not just a coincidence. They were wearing that color in recognition of Spirit Day, a national observance to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender students who have committed suicide recently after being bullied…

 

Alexandria Murphy, a member of the GSA, said she has been bullied, but not because of her sexual orientation. But she said it still hurt.

“People who do bully other people, they need to know what it feels like, because it does not feel good at all,” Murphy said…”
